September Player the Month
The 2024/25 season is underway, we're back on the pitches, and Club Player of the Month is back, with some phenomenal nominations to start us off in style too!
For those that are new to the club, every team has the option to nominate one of their players for Club Player of the Month. This can be for anything at all, whatever the Coaching team think warrants recognition from the wider club, and beyond.
There is a £20 prize for the player that gets voted by the committee as having the most deserving nomination, but really it's being nominated in the first place that matters most, so we'll be celebrating every nominee here every month.
Congratulations to everyone that made the shortlist, and a huge well done!

Max has been with the Mini’s from day one and has improved every single session. He’s my go to player for examples to show the other players certain skills that we do every week . Which he thrives on and loves the the responsibility it’s like having an extra coach .
Keep up the good work Max you’re going to be some player

Riley only started training with us in the summer, having not previously played in a teams unsurprisingly, he has a lot to learn, but he's a super-fast learner who has grown beyond belief in the last couple of month.
There's a natural grace and elegance to Riley's game and he reads what's going to happen next and readies himself accordingly. He is by nature not a confident person, but on the pitch he shows incredible confidence on the ball and makes the right choice of pass almost every time. Riley listens well at every training session, puts in 100% effort in every session. He's also blessed with incredible athletic abilities that stand him out as a player.

Zach has been an ever-present in the team since the start of the season. He is becoming an excellent student in the art of defending, and is reliable and dependeble leading the back line. This year we decided to do a shout out to the top three players after each game. Zach scooped one first place and consistantly appeared in the top three. Zach has improved enormously in a very short space of time so, I am proud to nominate him. Keep it up Zach!

We both feel that Mateusz should be put forward. He always gives 💯% His attendance is excellent. His behaviour & attitude on and off the pitch has never been an issue. He is very committed to wanting to better himself and his team. He brings good moral support to the team by the side lines. He helps build up the rest of the team with his personality and is liked by each member of the team. We feel as coaches, as a player he is definitely a perfect example of what a players Attributes should be on and off the pitch .

Jack has shown incredible hard work and desire this month, consistently fighting for the team and winning his individual battles. His bravery and fearlessness on the field have stood out, as well as his maturity in playing simple, well-executed football. Jack’s ability to dribble and make good decisions, always finding his teammates, has been key to his contributions.
Known for his fiery passion, Jack has learned to channel his competitive edge more effectively this month, using his drive to benefit both himself and the team. His high standards and constant self-criticism push him to perform at his best, and this month he has truly been a great example of competitiveness and passion.
Congratulations, Jack! This month, you have embodied the spirit of a true leader on the pitch—our very own Roy Keane. Keep it up!

I'm delighted to start our season with an extraordinary nomination for Player of the Month. James isn't just new to our team, but he's new to competitive football entirely. That's a hard thing to do at the age of 13, coming into a team that's been playing together for a while, full of players that are a lot more experienced than you are, and coming off the back of a successful last season too. But James has not let it faze him one bit. 6
He comes from good stock, having two older brothers that are WTFC alumni has clearly set him up with the right attitude, and it's that attitude for which we're nominating him mostly. James takes real ownership of his progress and development, the first thing he does after a training session or match is come to the coaches and ask what he could've done better (often the answer is nothing at all!) and he applies himself to every minute of his training, working his socks off to improve his game.
James may be a little raw, but that's just a time thing, for us coaches he's the ideal addition to our team because he understands that mistakes are the fuel for growth, and he is desperate to prove that he belongs on the football pitch.
James, we agree!! Well done on your first full month, and thank you for all your hard work.

I'd like to nominate Mason our new Goal keeper as player of the month. Since losing our keeper at the end of last season we had been trying to fill his boots, using 2 of our out field players as keepers which didn't work out. A week before the start of the season we had a look at Mason, who was currently an outfield player for Finedon. We sore a lot of potential in the session and signed him almost straight away .
Since then he's fitted straight into our team, blending in very well with all the lads. He's been a pleasure to work with on the training pitch and has shown that he's willing to listen and try to play the way we want him to. On match days he's been absolutely solid, putting in some cracking performances. Having played on pitch his distribution with his feet has been awesome.
Well done Mason keep up your good work buddy

So again we have had an interesting start to the season, so much promise and from a footballing and fitness point of view I would say better than ever. However its clear to see we are lacking consistency not just from game to game but in games as well, which is crucial to turn a performance into a result. The is the main message this season. To do the basics well, get dirty and be brave for 80 minutes that allows us to play football on the ground and control games.
We have had some great performances in September but Xavi has shown these traits consistently more than anyone across all training and all games we have had. This for me is even more prominent as there was some focus needed on Xavi's temperament and his role in and around his position and set plays, and he has taken the advice on board and focused on what his role is and what he is good at. He has been player of the game in one match and close to it in the other games as well. He is playing in different positions doing a job that is required and his bravery and commitment is second to none.
One example is his desire and commitment to head a ball cleanly against players way taller than him, we are all sometimes in shock to understand how he actually jumps so high to head a ball! Finally this week he has been away from football as while bravely defending his own goal mouth in the last league game he took a blow to the nose, bleeding everywhere, swollen nose, but still wanted to come back on and help turn a close game - just a war horse!
Well done Xavi, we are all proud of you!! You have listened to the feedback which is key and implemented it for you, keep the passion and aggression high ensuring its clean and being cool at all times son!
This was a tough one to call, but Riley from the Under 10's takes the first Player of the Month award for this season. Huge well done Riley, and welcome to the club, and again a huge well done to everyone that was nominated, you've all done yourselves and your teams proud.
